Lessons

Western riding lessons for all ages — focused on horsemanship, confidence, and meaningful time in the saddle.

How Our Lesson Program Works

Our lesson program is designed to support riders as they grow — not just in the saddle, but in their understanding of horses. Whether you’re brand new or returning to riding, lessons at Jäger Ranch focus on building confidence, developing strong fundamentals, and creating a respectful partnership between horse and rider. We keep our program intentionally small so each rider receives focused attention in a calm, supportive environment.

Lesson Availability

To maintain a high standard of care and individualized instruction, lesson spots at Jäger Ranch are limited. We encourage riders to inquire early so we can review availability and recommend the best fit based on age, experience level, and goals.

A weekly commitment is required for riders accepted into the lesson program.

Private Lessons (Our Primary Focus)

We primarily offer private lessons so riders can enjoy uninterrupted time with the coach and make the most of every moment in the arena. One-on-one instruction allows us to tailor each lesson to the rider’s goals, confidence level, and learning pace — creating a more relaxed and effective experience.

Private Lessons

Ideal for riders who want the most time in the saddle and clear coaching tailored to their goals.

  • One-on-one coaching with full arena time
  • Horse matched to rider ability
  • Confidence-building, progressive instruction
  • All ages and experience levels welcome

Semi-Private Lessons (Limited)

Semi-private lessons may be available for riders of similar age and experience, such as siblings or friends who enjoy learning together. Availability is limited, and private lessons are often the best place to start.

  • Shared lesson format with individual feedback
  • Great for riders who learn well alongside a partner
  • Offered based on availability

Before You Ride

Learning to ride includes learning how to care for the horse. Before each lesson, students are encouraged to fetch their horse, groom, and tack up independently.

This builds confidence, responsibility, and real-life horsemanship skills — with our team always nearby to guide and support.

For Younger Riders

For younger children, we often recommend starting with our Riding Club program before transitioning into lessons. It’s a great way to build confidence and comfort around horses in a structured setting.

Horsemanship Comes With Every Lesson

Lessons include more than riding — students learn groundwork, natural horsemanship, and practical skills that build trust and respect with horses.
